Let’s get out of our ‘bubbles’ and into the world

Passage: 1 Corth 9:15-27

The verse that really stood out to me this week was vs 22.

When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some.”

I think this verse is the main ingredient to successful evangelism techniques and strategies.  To meet people where they are at rather than hoping they’ll miraculously walk into our Churches.  Although that does happen from time to time it’s not the main way people are being led to Christ.  Jesus always went to the people and met their practical and physical needs first than offered spiritual help and shared the gospel with them.  I feel as though sometimes we forget how important this is.  We want to see others coming to Christ and getting to know God but meanwhile they are broken, alone, hungry, hurting, grieving and the list can go on and on.  It simply reminded today how important it is to keep our evangelism techniques simple…go out and help those who are weak and share in their weakness.  We need to be the deliverers of these practical needs on a personal level so they can see the love of Jesus through us.   I am glad I go to a Church that has a lot of opportunities to serve the community in practical ways.  I challenge us all not to get too comfortable in our own little world and become stale and numb to the needs of others around us.  We need to get involved.  I encourage us all this week to get involved in someone’s life who is weak and just share in their weakness.  Don’t worry about what you are going to say, you don’t need to say anything just be there for them.  God will do the rest and use you in the amazing ways that God uses people who are willing.

I have been procrastinating on some paper work that needs to be done in order for me to volunteer at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga as a Music Therapist with the harp.  This verse has convicted me to get this done asap so that I can share my gift of music to comfort others.  If God has been calling you do to something please share your comments below and I will pray for you that God will give you the strength to fulfill His will.

In the clay,

Chantal Dube
